Circle of H O P E

Circle of HOPE met ''grandma Danica'' during our trip to Belgrade in April of 2003. Her story touched us in a very profound way.

Danica and her husband Drago Ceklic, a WWII veteran, live as refugees in Barajevo, near Belgrade. They are 80 years old with no means of support.

They also care for their two grandchildren, Zeljko 10, and Dejana 7 years old. Zeljko and Dejana’s parents were one of the 36 victims of the bomb that struck the convoy of refugees on May 3, 1999, during the Kosovo bombing campaign.

Circle of H O P E visited them in their donated shelter in Barajevo in July 2003, and delivered sponsorship funds, clothes and school supplies for the children. Children could not wait to try on all the clothes, and even climbed into grandma’s lap for a special photo showing off the new clothes...
